What is the most positive thing you’ve seen since the COVID-19 pandemic, in terms of IT?
It’s tough to look for any sort of silver lining in a cloud like this. The loss of life is tragic, and can’t be trivialized. But if you force me to think of one positive thing, it’s that companies large and small are realizing that remote work is not only possible, but beneficial. A lot of organizations have always expected their workers to “come on in to work.” And why not – we’ve been reporting to a physical place of work as human beings for, well, centuries, now .But these days, large companies such as AWS are realizing that folks really don’t necessarily have to report to that cubicle in downtown Seattle or Manhattan every day to contribute. I think this is positive in so many ways. For example, remote working can reduce traffic, clears the air, and allows for a flexible lifestyle, while still making tech work. No one wants to learn positive lessons through a pandemic, really. But if you want to accentuate the positive, there’s one answer.
