What Does It Take To Operationalize AI?
In September of last year, Gartner reported that, in spite of the pandemic and its impact on economies worldwide, investments in artificial intelligence (AI) saw zero overall decreases. Moreover, nearly a third of organizations planned to increase AI investments.
Amazingly, the pandemic boosted AI adoption: Chatbots stepped in to answer the surge in pandemic-related customer inquiries and empower people with information about the virus. Computer vision (powered by AI) helped people maintain social distance. Machine learning models were even used to model the effects of the pandemic on gasoline consumption and the effects of quarantine measures on spread.
Not long ago, many saw AI as a futuristic, unrealized technology. But, as Gartner puts it, “AI is starting to deliver on its potential, and its benefits for businesses are becoming a reality.”
